August Tea Notes

On 31 August 2026, Cozy Lives posted August Tea on Steam. The tone was not a new feature list. It was a studio saying the date would be met. Dressmaker’s store page still points at 21 September 2026 for Windows and macOS. The app is still 4019220. The play button still does not exist. This page is the recap of that late-August note: content complete, credits compiled, ending done, achievement icons painted, leftover work on bugs and post-launch, new key art from Carolina “Carolemellow,” and a round of team introductions next to Guardian and Creative Bloq interviews.

Read it beside the Steam launch briefing and the price and wishlist page. August Tea did not name 14.99 USD; Scalding September Tea on 7 September 2026 did. August Tea is the “we are not slipping” post. September Tea is the “here is the till” post. Prototype 0.5.5 on itch.io did not change because of either one.

The date will be met

Through 2026 the team had to push back on “unless there are delays” jokes. August Tea is the clean sentence: they intend to hit 21 September 2026. A Steam date is still a plan until the play button lights. If the store moves, trust the store, then this wiki. Until then, quote August Tea as confidence, not as a file in your library.

Content complete, in the same post, means the story commissions, dress pieces, and shop systems are in. It does not mean every lace pin is already perfect. Remaining work is bugs plus post-launch. That is the honest Discord sentence. It matches what September Tea repeated two weeks later. Do not translate “content complete” into “the itch zip became the 35-hour game.” The public prototype is still 0.5.5.

Credits compiled and the ending done are the kind of milestones a narrative shop actually needs. Achievement icons painted means the Steam feature flag is not an empty checkbox: someone sat and drew the tiles. None of those sentences are patch notes you can install today. They are production status for a Unity single-player title that has been in the oven since a three-week prototype in August 2025.

Interviews and the new key art

Guardian and Creative Bloq interviews ran around the same window. Use them as profiles of a Cape Town cozy label inside Free Lives, not as datamines. If a quote in a magazine disagrees with the Steam news post on date or price, prefer the news post. Press is good at mood. Store copy is good at SKUs.

Carolina “Carolemellow” illustrated new key art for that August note. The image is marketing for the finished shop, not a screenshot of Prototype 0.5.5. Do not reverse-engineer systems from a painting. Do hang the name: the full game’s public face at the end of August 2026 is hers, on top of the in-house catalogue the rest of the team drew.

Additional art credits that belong in the same breath: Luc Wolthers and Ben Geldenhuys. Producer: Anja “Nanna” Venter Rausch. Writing: Kerstin Hall. Music: Meydän. Sound: Jason Sutherland. Dressmaking consultancy: Sabrina Becker. The original three-week sketch still traces to Jonathan Hau-Yoon, Ruan Rothmann, and Sara Laubscher. August Tea’s team intros are how a small South African shop tells you who actually sewed the year of work, not a credits Easter egg hunt.

Team intros, without turning this into a gossip page

Jonathan (elyaradine) is the design through-line from the itch experiment to the Steam app. Ruan (raithza) is in that first room. Sara (sarandipityx) is in that first room. Sabrina is why grain arrows mean something and why a lattice deformer was worth pausing prototype R&D for. Jason is the needle and the shop bed, not a stock-loop playlist. Kerstin is the townsfolk and the ending the August post says is done. Meydän is the score you already heard in 0.5.5.

Those names also sit on the official links hub: press kit, Discord, support mail. If you want to congratulate someone, use those doors. If you want to demand a Steam key because you paid on itch, do not. August Tea is not a coupon.

What August Tea does not change

  • Steam is still not yet available.
  • Platforms on the store are still Windows and macOS.
  • Linux remains a prototype zip convenience, with the Steam linux flag false.
  • Steam Deck compatibility remains Unknown.
  • There is still no official console or mobile build. Ignore APKs.
  • Price, regional tiers, and the 10 percent launch discount still live on the 7 September post, not in this August recap.
  • Story commissions are still about 35 hours excluding off-the-rack dresses, as later launch copy stated.

Between August Tea and launch day, expect bug hunts, not a new opera house. Monthly Tea posts earlier in the year already covered measurements, mannequins, fabric shaders, and window sales as systems landing in the full build. August Tea is the moment those systems stop being “coming” and start being “in, now polish.”

If you are playing 0.5.5 this week, keep playing 0.5.5. If you are waitlisting a finished shop, wishlist 4019220 and let 21 September 2026 arrive without a grey-market exe. The August note is a studio exhaling. It is not a download. When the credits finally roll on Steam, you will know whose names you are looking at because this page already wrote them down, in the order the Tea asked you to care: the date, the finished content, the leftover bugs, the painter, and the people who kept a three-week prototype in the shop for a year.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week, the prototype, and the sewing loop.

When was August Tea posted?

31 August 2026, on Steam news. It is a status post for the 21 September 2026 launch, not a new prototype zip.

Did August Tea delay Dressmaker?

No. The note says the launch date will be met. The store still lists 21 September 2026. Trust the store if that ever changes.

What does content complete mean here?

Story commissions, pieces, and shop systems are in. Remaining work is bugs and post-launch. It does not mean Prototype 0.5.5 became the full game.

Who painted the new key art?

Carolina “Carolemellow,” credited in the August Tea post. Treat it as full-game marketing art, not a 0.5.5 screenshot.

Did this post announce the 14.99 USD price?

No. Price, regional tiers, and the 10 percent launch discount arrived in the 7 September 2026 news. See price and wishlist.

Where should I go for official files and press?

Steam for the upcoming shop, itch.io for 0.5.5, and the links hub for the press kit, Discord, and support mail.
